I sent e-mails on February 27th regarding conferences; please check your e-mails.
The March is Reading Month celebration kicks off on Thursday March 5th! Students will read from a variety of genres and choice activities throughout the month. They may choose to complete any square at any time. For each square completed, students will receive a raffle ticket for the book giveaway. Drawings will be done weekly and winners will be announced on the news.
Math: We are full swing into unit 5. This week, we will be working on a project called, "Queen Arlene's Dilemma." Students will be dividing Queen Arlene's land into parts based on a number story and then writing fractions in an addition number sentence.
We will also be learning how to subtract fractions with like denominators (5/6 - 3/6 = 2/6) and mixed numbers.
Google Classroom: Please ask your child to take a minute to share with you our Google Classroom page this week. There are MANY resources posted there that we use on a daily basis that will help in practicing the skills we learn about at school at home.
A HUGE congratulations to the following students for passing a level in Lexia this past week!
Cold and Flu season: As you've probably heard on the news, many school districts around us continue to get hit hard by influenza. Symptoms include fever, headache, lethargy, and upper-respiratory congestion. Please remember if you child has a fever, he/she must be fever free (without the aid of medicine) for a full 24-hours to return to school. We are wiping down our desks regularly and encouraging hand washing! Our superintendent is monitoring our attendance numbers, but as of now we are seeing attendance typical for this time of the year.
