Notes from Mrs. Hassenger and the 4th Grade Team - Part 2

Hello Families,

After listening to Dr. Bruce's message on Sunday, the 4th grade team would like to share our plan with you.

There will be 2 live Google Meets (formerly Google Hangouts) each week: one whole class and one individual. Parents/Guardians must be present (in the same room) during the individual meetings when we share feedback on each child's work for the week.

1.) Monday will be our whole class meeting at 11am; all kids will be invited to join the Google Meet through Classroom. This hangout will last approximately 30 minutes and will be recorded and shared in Classroom for those who could not attend. Please review the Google Meet instruction video that I previously shared with you HERE.

2.) On Mondays, a video lesson will be linked on the Week at a Glance document which will be posted on Google Classroom and posted for families in the weekly blog. Don't worry if you can't watch it on Monday, it's a recording so your child can watch it whenever and as many times as needed to understand the concept. All the 4th grade teachers in the district are working together, so the video may be a recording of a teacher from Brown, Clarke, or Lincoln.

3.) Lastly, we will meet with each child on an individual basis for 10 minutes per week (you will access the Meet link in the same place where it was accessed for the whole class meeting). A parent/guardian must be present for this meeting since we will be discussing work completion and the student's progress on the weekly lessons. Individual conferences will start next week, April 20-24. Here is the link for next week: Signup Genius (use the access code: HASSENGER).

Please note that the activity boards will be changing. Per the Governor, we are allowed to assign 60-90 minutes of work a day; this includes online programs like Lexia, the weekly lesson and activities along with the specials teachers lessons. You are welcome to have your child work additionally on any of the programs in the symbaloo or on any other enrichment activities that you'd like.

Thank you for your continued communication and support during these challenging times. Not being there with the kids is the hardest part for us! We look forward to the day when we can meet up in person!!

Sincerely,
4th Grade Team
SJPS
